About the Varden hike

The Hesten hike is one of the most popular mountain hikes in Senja. The trip starts from Fjordgård and has a relatively steep climb, but is not technically demanding. The trip to Hesten therefore suits most people, but you must be aware of the cliff at the top. The view is spectacular with the pointed peak Segla close by, as well as fjords, sea and mountain ranges as far as the eye can see. You can also take the quick and easy trip over to Stavelitippen once you are at Hesten. There is about 1 km extra to walk on flat terrain.
Be aware that although the maps are based on GPS tracks, the intention is still just to provide the starting point and approximate direction of the trip, and do not take into account exact positioning. The accuracy of maps and GPS can also vary slightly.
You are always responsible for making your own assements when hiking in the mountains. It is also important to be well-suited for the weather conditions, in addition to bringing enough water and a snack to keep the energy level stable.
