Keipen and Grytetippen hike
The Keipen and Grytetippen hike
Both the Grytetippen hike (east on the map) og the Keipen hike (west on the map) are two highly popular mountain hikes on Senja, offering an unforgettable panoramic view as a reward for your efforts. What makes these hikes unique is that you can easily conquer both mountains in a single excursion, as they are only 650 meters apart and share much of the same trail.
Embarking on this dual mountain adventure, you’ll relish in a stunning view of Senja’s majestic mountain ranges, the beautiful fjords winding through the landscape, and the charming small villages scattered across the island. But it doesn’t stop there – on the horizon, you can also admire the infinite blue beauty of the Norwegian Sea. These peaks are also renowned for providing optimal conditions to experience the midnight sun during the summer, giving you the opportunity to witness the natural phenomenon from a spectacular vantage point.
It’s essential to note that both Keipen and Grytetippen are classified as challenging hikes. This is due to the significant elevation gain you’ll be climbing over a relatively short distance, resulting in steep sections along the trail. While the challenges are real, the reward at the summit is worth every step – you’ll be greeted with an incredible view and a sense of accomplishment when you reach the top of both mountains.
Important!
While the maps are based on real GPS tracks, please note that their primary purpose is to provide a starting point and approximate route for the trip, rather than precise positioning. The accuracy of maps and GPS may also vary slightly.
You are always responsible for making your own judgments when venturing into the mountains, taking the current conditions into account. It’s crucial to ensure you have appropriate footwear for the conditions and that you bring an adequate supply of food and water for your journey.
It is also important to check the local weather forecast in advance.
